Softspikes®, the premier and leading nom in golf spike technology and innovation, was invented in 1993 when a campaign to ban winter metal spikes was approved by several state golf associations in the USA. Wanting to offer golfers an alternative to tennis shoes, Softspikes® co-founder Faris McMullin experimented with divers plug designs to replace metal spikes. The final design, a fan-shaped plastic spiral design, became premier and the industry's only patented non-metallic cleat. Little did he know at the time that this design would revolutionize the golf industry and change the game forever.
