Unlike PW, SW, GW and LB, wedges classic irons have a number corresponding to the degree of opening and are not included in the iron set. For some years now, golfers have been preferring wedges (a much more technical and precise club) to wedges with letters.

How do I choose my wedge(s)?

There are as many wedges wedges as there are lofts (generally from 46° to 62°), but wedges 48°, 52°, 56° and 60° are the most popular. It's also essential to select your wedge in relation to the last loft in your iron set. For example, if the last club is a 43° PW, the wedge to use is a 48°, followed by a 52° for the second club. In general, there should be a 4°/5° gap between two wedges wedges.

As with irons, there are two types of shaft: steel and graphite, and divers flexes.

Finally, as wedges are used around green for approaches and bunker exits (as they provide short but high shots), they have a different rebond (bounce) to control approaches and ball spin:

A reduced bounce corresponds to a bounce between 0° and 10°, ideal for hard lies; a standard bounce corresponds to a bounce between 10° and 16°, and is the most versatile; finally, a high bounce corresponds to a rebond beyond 16° and is ideal for soft lies.
